The shell pendant is hand-carved from chalcedony by an expert artisan, using an age-old, wood-carving technique. Blue chalcedony restores calm and balance.
The pendant is set with a cabochon-cut Ethiopian opal, which symbolizes grounding for the emotional body.
The shape of the shell was inspired by the works of Maruja Mallo (1942), who is known for her exploration of femininity and nature, through surrealist and abstract paintings.
This piece is handmade from 14-karat recycled gold in our Atelier in Amsterdam. All gemstones are natural and hand carved, therefore there may be a slight variation in color, shape, and weight of the product.
Our pendants can be worn with our Sophie Joanne 14k gold chain necklace or our signature choker.
If this piece is not in stock, production lead time is roughly 3-5 weeks, however, if you require rush delivery please contact us at contact@sophiejoanne.com to inquire about in-stock inventory. This pendant can also be made in white or rose gold, contact us for more information.

All our jewelry is handmade in our Amsterdam atelier. Most of our carvings are hand-carved in our atelier and in Germany. Above all else, we value our community most, our customers, the craftsmen that generously lend us their skill, and everyone else who is involved in this journey. We build lasting relationships, we act with kindness and respect, and value quality of life. All the craftsmen and artisans we work with are compensated fairly.
We only work with people who align with our values of sourcing and crafting and make sure these ethics are lived throughout our supply chain. Where possible we produce locally, but we also highly value our craftsmen who work from a distance. They possess skills that are rare to find and are often tied to remote communities. We take pride in that our collaborations have a direct positive impact on them and their community.
When we first started our business, we aimed to be transparent about our jewelry pricing by providing a price breakdown for each piece. However, due to the constant fluctuations in gold and gemstone prices, it has become challenging to keep detailed cost breakdowns updated on our website.
As a small business with purpose in an industry that is hazy and foggy when it comes to its transparency, we want to lead by example and are committed to bringing transparency to the jewelry industry. If you're interested in receiving a full breakdown of our pricing and cost structure, we’d be happy to email you all the details. Please feel free to contact us at contact@sophiejoanne.com for more information.
